Competition Schedule

Purpose: To learn the skills and techniques in the sport of Wrestling. In doing so, developing and demonstrating Christ-like character qualities of: initiative, persistence, diligence, courage, fairness, honor, responsibility, self-confidence and self-control. Winning is to be kept in the proper perspective by the kids, Coaches and Parents. This should be a fun experience for the kids!

Association: Affiliated with, Miami Valley Kids Wrestling Association, which has 53 active clubs in the Greater Miami Valley area. Over 1,000 wrestlers from K – 6 th grade, in Dayton, participate in the sport.

Participants: Boys in grades K – 6 th grade. The club accommodates “first time” up to “highly skilled” wrestlers. Our club is a ministry, open to all boys, regardless of attendance to Troy Christian Schools.

Wrestling is a physical sport, yet participation by wrestlers as young as Kindergarten is very common in our association, just as it is in youth T-ball, soccer, etc. The key for any young participant in sports is that the youngster has the desire to be in the sport. (not the parents)

Season Timeframe: November 13 th through February 25th (15 weeks)

Practices: (2) nights per week (first practice will be Tuesday, Nov. 13 th)

• Tuesday: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in TC Field house
• Thursday: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in TC Field house

Tournaments: are held on Sundays normally starting at 1:00 and lasting about 3 hours. There will be 5-6 tournaments starting on December 10th. Tournament participation is optional.

 

Matches: Wrestlers are paired in groups of (4) according to age, weight, experience and record. A wrestler will compete against each of the other (3) wrestlers in his group. Each match is (3) one minute periods.

 

Coaches: Experienced Wrestling Coaches with High School, Collegiate and Club experience

Cost : $70.00 per wrestler. Includes: Club T-Shirt, USA Wrestling Card, MVKWA Card, entry fees to tournaments, and use of team singlet. (a limited number of headgear will be available)

  -Copy of birth certificate (to turn in)

  -Copy of Health Insurance card with Policy # (to turn in)
